It started a few thousand miles from California — in a freezing dorm in Maine, after a late-night viewing of Endless Summer. The glow of the Pacific made packing up and heading west feel obvious.

In San Francisco a favorite vintage tee disappeared, and the hunt to recreate that broken-in feel became a whole closet of absurdly soft clothes. Marine LayerM still cuts those pieces: California-easy, worn-in from day one, and built to stay in rotation.
